Mold on the Treasure Coast: Fort Pierce
Fort Pierce is the county seat of St. Lucie County, on Florida's Treasure Coast about an hour north of West Palm Beach. The city covers roughly 30 square miles, about a fifth of it water, sits about 20 feet above sea level, and had 47,297 residents in the 2020 Census. The Fort Pierce Inlet is close by, and the Intracoastal Waterway runs through the city, so the water, the marina, and the beaches are part of everyday life here.
So are the storms. Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne damaged the City Marina in 2004, and in October 2024 a tornado spawned by Hurricane Milton struck the Fort Pierce area. Salt air, wind-driven rain, and humidity are what a Fort Pierce building has to live with, and they shape where mold shows up:
- Salt-laden, humid air. It settles into attics, closets, cabinets, and air conditioning equipment, and keeps materials damp.
- Storm damage to roofs, windows and doors. Wind-driven rain gets past damaged flashing and seals and into ceilings, attic decking and wall cavities, often with no sign for weeks.
- Air conditioning condensation. Systems that run nearly all year can overflow, leak, or soak insulation.
- Waterfront and marina properties. Docks, boathouses, marine cabins and boats sit in moist air all the time.
- Older and historic buildings. Aging roofs, plumbing, and windows have had more years to develop small leaks.
- Seasonal residences. A home that is closed up for part of the year, with the air conditioning set back or off, can build up humidity that nobody sees until the owner returns.
FixMold understands how humidity, storms, and aging construction affect properties throughout the Fort Pierce area. Mold here is often hidden behind walls, beneath flooring, inside attics, and throughout HVAC systems long before it becomes visible.

Our Mold Services in Fort Pierce
FixMold provides mold inspection, mold testing, mold remediation, indoor air quality services, HVAC cleaning and disinfecting, water damage restoration, and general contracting and repairs for residential and commercial properties throughout Fort Pierce and surrounding St. Lucie County communities.
Mold inspection
Every successful remediation begins with a detailed mold inspection. Our certified inspectors use advanced diagnostic equipment to locate visible mold, find hidden moisture, and determine the conditions that let microbial growth start. An inspection may include:
- A complete property evaluation
- Infrared thermal imaging
- Moisture mapping and humidity analysis
- Leak detection
- HVAC system inspection
- Digital reporting with photographs and recommendations
By finding both the mold and its moisture source, we help owners make informed decisions before damage spreads.
Mold testing and indoor air quality
When mold is suspected, or occupants notice unexplained odors or health symptoms, professional mold testing and indoor air quality assessments give you facts. We offer air and surface sampling with laboratory analysis to show:
- Mold spore concentrations inside the property
- How indoor air compares with outdoor air
- The types of mold present
- Potential exposure risks
- The data needed to build an effective remediation plan
Air quality testing is especially valuable in coastal Fort Pierce properties, where airborne contaminants can circulate continuously through HVAC systems.
Mold removal and remediation
Once mold is identified, FixMold provides professional mold removal and remediation that follows established industry standards and Florida guidelines. The process typically includes:
- Isolation and containment of the affected areas
- HEPA-filtered air scrubbing
- Removal of contaminated building materials
- Detailed cleaning and antimicrobial treatments
- Moisture control and prevention measures
- Post-remediation verification when required
Our goal is not only to remove mold but to prevent it from returning by correcting moisture and ventilation problems. Independent clearance testing confirms the result, and a clearance certificate is available for homeowners and HOAs.
HVAC system and air duct cleaning
In Fort Pierce, HVAC systems often become hidden reservoirs for mold, dust, bacteria and allergens. Moisture in air handlers, dirty coils and deteriorating duct materials can degrade indoor air quality and carry contaminants through a whole building. Our HVAC and duct cleaning includes mold removal from air handlers and duct interiors, HEPA vacuuming and sanitization, evaporator coil and drain line cleaning, inspection of damaged or deteriorated ductwork, and recommendations for repair or replacement. Proper HVAC cleaning plays a critical role in keeping indoor air healthy.
Flood and water damage restoration
Water damage is one of the leading causes of mold growth in the Fort Pierce area. Storm-related flooding, roof damage, plumbing leaks and AC failures can introduce moisture quickly and silently. Our water damage restoration includes:
- Emergency water extraction
- Structural drying and dehumidification
- Moisture mapping and ongoing monitoring
- Leak detection
- Mold prevention treatments
Fast response reduces the risk of secondary mold contamination and structural deterioration.
Licensed general contractor repairs
FixMold also offers licensed general contractor services to repair and restore areas affected by mold or water damage: drywall and ceiling replacement, flooring removal and installation, trim, baseboard and cabinet repairs, structural repairs related to moisture damage, and full post-remediation restoration. One company handling both remediation and rebuilding simplifies the process and keeps repairs at a professional standard.
After a Storm or a Leak
Storms are part of life on the Treasure Coast. EPA guidance recommends removing water promptly and drying affected areas within 48 hours when possible. That lowers the chance of mold growth but does not guarantee it. Photograph the damage, note the date, and call us if materials stayed wet or a musty smell appears. Drywall, insulation, and carpet padding can stay damp after the surface looks dry.
